Some useful hints and explanations for installing Glazing Wedge.

SAMPLES :

Firstly, we recommend you obtain Glazing Wedge samples from this website so you can make sure you are installing the correct size.

Note: it is not the width of the top of the glazing wedge that is the important part when seeking the correct size - rather, it is the area with the fins that you need to have correctly sized.  Remove a sample of the glazing wedge you currently have in your window.  Match this piece with the samples when received.  Using a little soapy water to lubricate the area for ease of insertion.  The Glazing wedge should fit snuglyDo not force it in - as it may break the glass.

INSTALLATION :

In some cases you will find your Glazing Wedge has been installed as one piece – with the corners mitre cut in the back of the glazing wedge to create the corners.  Over time the glazing wedge will shrink and pull out of the corners – this can be unsightly and create an opening for too much water to access in some cases.

The method below is a more generally used method of installing the wedge, reducing the shrinkage problem.

It is better to square cut the wedge completely through at the corners, ending up with four (4) separate lengths.

It is recommended fitting the horizontal lengths before the vertical lengths.

Lubricate the glass with soapy water and install glazing wedge – pushing the ends well into the corners of the window frame.

DO NOT  S T R E T C H  THE WEDGE AS YOU INSTALL IT – RATHER BACK FEED IT TO CUT DOWN SHRINKAGE.

There is a tool that can be purchased called a Glazing Tool (Product Code: GT050A) to help install the glazing wedge.
